FAR ABOVE RUBIES
"Who can find a virtuous woman? for her price is far above rubies" (Proverbs 31:10)
When God brought Eve to Adam, "Adam said, This is now bone of my bones, and flesh of my flesh: she shall be called Woman, because she was taken out of Man. Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife: and they shall be one flesh" (Genesis 23-24).
You might ask, "how did Adam know to say she was bone of his bones and flesh of his flesh"? Why didn't God say that to them both instead. I believe there may be two possibilities. (1) That God had told Adam about marriage before hand. He did say it was not good for man to be alone; or (2) that Jesus revealed it to him in the same way it was revealed to Peter who Jesus was. It was by revelation from God. I also believe that Adam knew the scriptures. He walked with the Lord. This gets a little deep, so I will just leave it there.
I had a pastor say to me once that no one married Adam and Eve. I said, God, Himself, brought Eve to Adam. You could say He walked her down the aisle. When Adam said she is now bone of my bones and flesh of my flesh, this was definitely a marriage ceremony and God was there to witness. Needless to say, I was a little shocked that this pastor said that to me.
You cannot write about marriage and not the church because God intertwines the two. "Husbands, if you have a wife that loves the Lord, do you really know what you have in her? Christ tells us "For the husband is the head of the wife, even as Christ is the head of the church; and he is the savior of the body. Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church and gave himself for it"" (Ephesians 5:23,25).
Husbands, if God has blessed you with wife of virtue and loves the Lord, do you really know what you have in her? You should respect her for who she is and treat her with the utmost respect. Here's what the scriptures tell us about your wife with this virtue.
"Who can find a virtuous woman? For her price is for above rubies. The heart of her husband doth safely trust in her, so that he shall have no need of spoil. She will do him good and not evil all the days of her life.
